The whole canvas is water, painted in turquoise and blue and drawn over with looping white and cobalt lines. Faces, fish, boats and rounded bodies surface out of the tangle and sink back into it, so that no shape is quite separate from the next. A wide face looks out near the top, and a long boat runs across the lower edge.
