Beard - Kareem Rizk

A vintage studio photograph of a bearded man in profile, printed in olive green, is pasted across the upper half of the sheet. Below it lie torn layers of orange, blue, magenta and cream carrying fragments of old print, among them a large dark numeral and a line of type reading from Infection. The portrait is rubbed away across the eyes.

Built as a collage of torn and cut paper, old print and painted shapes, layered so that every edge and worn surface stays visible. Kareem Rizk is an Australian collage and mixed media artist who lives and works in Denmark, building densely layered works from re-purposed printed ephemera, with a background in graphic design and a long-standing affinity for typography. Available as a poster or fine art canvas print in multiple sizes.
